Very sad news. Steve Gerber [60],creator of Howard The Duck and other characters died last night from pulmonary fibrosis. Mark Evanier has a wonderful tribute at his site:

OMEGA THE UNKNOWN was one of my Gerber favourites though,of course,most fans will remember Gerber for his misplaced duck!
No doubt the internet will be full of tributes from people who knew the man. Sadly,all I can say is that he produced fun comics.
